For expert advice, we asked some men-around-town to let us in on the most wanted items on their Christmas lists.


Who: Landon Tom, lead singer of local band The Jump Offs
What: The original Amazon Kindle
Why: I catch the bus, so it's good for that – I can carry a bunch of books on it and it's not going to be heavy.

Who: Steve Uyehara, co-anchor of Sunrise on Hawaii News Now
What: New slippers (preferably Reefs), or some new shorts, hats, T-shirts.
Why: I always need more of the stuff I wear everyday. I'm a huge Oakland Raiders fan, so anything Raiders always works.




Who: Chris Kalima, partner in design and web development firm Airspace Workshop.
What: This crazy Japanese coffee maker: the Yama Vacpot coffee siphon and vacuum pot.
Why: It's rad, and under $100. I guess I like coffee. But a good cup of coffee is even better.

Who: Ken Kawauchi, owner of the ReOrient8 Medical Software company.
What: The Lego Millennium Falcon set.
Why: I've wanted it since I was a kid, but at $500 have always felt guilty buying it for myself.



Who: Flash Hansen, co-owner of Apartm3nt Nightclub.
What: A Community Supported Agriculture Box subscription from Ma’o Farms.
Why: This box of fresh, organic vegetables is delivered every two weeks. And the mix is always different and always yummy.
