That’s why we know you’ll be fired up about the recently arrived, not-here-for-long 2006 vintage of Bitch, a South Australian red wine made of 100-percent Grenache sourced from Barossa vines that are anywhere from 40 to 60 years old. It’s a grape winemakers say is a bitch to grow, but when as well produced as this one, oozes a delightful, earthy wine that’s, yes, also a bitch to make.

Though the name hits some like a slap in the face (chances are they have it coming), the bottle’s soft pink label and delicate cursive lettering promises an aromatic ruby juice that’s low in tannins (the winemakers shun oak), and is sold at an astonishingly low price given its 90 Wine Advocate points.

But we know that kind of outside approval is the last thing you need.

So at your next girls’ night, when things seem too staid and ‘burbish, plunk down a bottle of Bitch and set the tone for all your BFFs.

Now that’s fierce.
