Guess your maxi-dresses will have to carry you through till spring.

Or at least until you get your hands on a dress from the new Satori line, just launched this month by local designer Lynn Sakutori, a UH grad who recently returned to Hawai‘i after nearly a decade in New York designing for top labels like Kenneth Cole.

Named for the Japanese word for enlightenment, the collection of eight silk charmeuse dresses is perfectly on trend for fall, with structured shapes and rich jewel tones like bright emerald, deep plum, and shimmery taupe.

As the name suggests, the simple silhouettes have echoes of Asian influence, but still feel new and modern, with precise pleating and folding details at the necklines, ruched waistlines and flowing skirts. The sleeveless pleated scoopneck style pairs perfectly with ballet flats or platform pumps. The short-sleeved tunic works with bare legs or leggings (or even skinny jeans). And the spaghetti-strap slipdress goes perfectly with your strappy sandals – as well as your slippers.

Any way you wear your Satori, it’s a look that, finally, translates cool-weather trends for Hawai‘i life.
