Start spreading the news. It’s open today. You’ll wanna be a part of it.

There’s a new boutique on the Lower East Side – of Oahu, that is. Seastar 8.4.23, opening tonight in Waikiki, is all about bringing the Big Apple to the beach.

After living and working in NYC’s music and fashion scenes, sisters Nana and Yuri Fujisé wanted to bring some of the City’s style back with them to the Islands.

The boutique’s name is beachy (Seastar 8.4.23 is a shout-out to their family’s seaside home addresses in Japan and Hawai‘i) but the style is all big city, stocked with select designers from New York, Los Angeles, and Miami.

A sampling: tops and dresses by Arnold Zimberg, Torn by Ronny Kobo, and LaROK, jumpsuits by Alexis, cashmere scarves by Yarnz, handbags by Beirn, shoes by Matt Bernson, Matiko and Jeffrey Campbell, limited-edition jelly bracelets by Jules Smith, and more—several of which are making their Hawai‘i debut.

Even the store itself feels like a minimalist New York loft, with industrial-like white walls and ceilings, galvanized pipe racks, steel hangers, and a dark grey concrete floor. See it for yourself at tonight’s grand opening party, where you can shop, sip champagne, nosh on sushi from Nobu Waikiki, and rock out to DJ Whoo Kid (50 Cent’s official DJ from NYC).

You’ll want to get there in a New York minute.

Seastar 8.4.23 opens tonight at 6 p.m. Located at 423 Nahua St. in Waikiki. 808.922.8423. Visit www.seastar8423.com for more info.
