New Year’s Resolution #7: Show more support for the local art scene.

Not to say that last year you didn’t make an effort.

After all, you did go to the Contemporary Museum—for lunch at its café. And you did spend a good many hours at the Honolulu Academy of Arts—although it was tough to tell what you were looking at thanks to those Art After Dark beer goggles.

You even hit up Mark’s Garage during many a First Friday—totally checking out the exhibits while making your way from its parking lot to the bars on Hotel Street.

This time around, brush up with a chic graphic tote courtesy of Maliko Design.

The stylish cotton shoppers feature screen-printed versions of local artist Coleen Wilcox’s vibrant acrylic paintings of tropical flowers, beautiful water goddesses and dreamy underwater scenes—inspired by her love of the ocean and easy island living.

Plus, each comes equipped with a convenient inner pocket and durable webbed handles, and is roomy enough to fit everything from daily essentials, to groceries, to gear for the beach.

Perfect for painting the town red.
Or at least turning your artsy pals green with envy.

Maliko Design totes are available at Flower Child in Kailua, 41 Kihapai St., 808.263.0288, Etown in Chinatown, 1164 Smith St., 808.225.2727, and at the Maliko Design online store. For more info, email contact@malikodesign.com.
